Job Title: Doctor (Obstetrician/Gynecologist, Family Medicine Physician)

Job location: Palestine, Gaza (On-Site)

Reports to: Project Coordinator

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Doctor will be responsible for providing integrated maternal, neonatal, infant, and child health services as part of the malnutrition screening project among children under five in Gaza. This includes conducting comprehensive health assessments, delivering medical treatments, educating families on health practices, and supporting overall health and well-being of the community. 

The Doctor will work closely with the project team to ensure effective implementation of health services in the target locations.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide integrated maternal, neonatal, infant, and child health services in target locations.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments for mothers, neonates, infants, and children under five.
  • Diagnose and treat medical conditions, including providing necessary medical interventions and prescriptions.
  • Administer vaccinations and other preventive health measures.
  • Educate mothers and caregivers on proper health practices, nutrition, and childcare.
  • Support safe childbirth practices and provide postnatal care.
  • Assist with malnutrition screenings, including measuring height, weight, and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) of children under five.
  • Counsel caregivers on feeding and nutrition practices, stimulation, positive parenting, mental health, and psychosocial support.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of health assessments and interventions.
  • Collaborate with community volunteers and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Report any health concerns or issues to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Should have the following skills, education, and experience:

  • Obstetrician/Gynecologist (Ob/Gyn), Family Medicine Physician
  • (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Valid license to practice medicine in Gaza.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maternal and child health care.
  • Experience in malnutrition screening and management is highly desirable.
  • Strong clinical skills in pediatrics and obstetrics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a challenging and potentially high-stress environment.
  • Proficiency in Arabic; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Commitment to MedGlobal’s mission and values.
  • Knowledge of local health systems and community resources.
  • Experience working in conflict or post-conflict settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under the supervision of project staff.
