JOB SUMMARY
The Health Promoter will play a critical role in supporting the Malnutrition Screening Project through active community engagement, health education, and awareness-raising activities. The Health Promoter will serve as a bridge between the project team and the community, focusing on promoting key health and nutrition messages, providing counseling to caregivers, and supporting behavioral changes related to child health, nutrition, and well-being. This role directly contributes to improving the health outcomes of children under five and their caregivers.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct outreach to identify and engage PBW and families with children under five within targeted communities.
- Facilitate health education sessions focused on:
- Infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices
- Nutrition and hygiene
- Early childhood development and stimulation
- Positive parenting
- Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS)
- Support the organization and implementation of malnutrition screening activities.
- Distribute health promotional materials and ensure comprehension among caregivers.
- Conduct one-on-one or group counseling sessions with caregivers and community members.
- Follow up with families of children identified with malnutrition to support treatment adherence and reinforce health messages.
- Collect and report community feedback, concerns, or misconceptions to the project team.
- Participate in training workshops, team meetings, and capacity-building activities.
- Collaborate with local leaders, other volunteers, and stakeholders to enhance outreach effectiveness.
- Ensure that all activities are implemented in line with MedGlobal’s policies and cultural sensitivity standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
- A university degree or diploma in Nutrition or related field.

- Resident of Gaza with strong ties to the local community.
- Previous experience in nutrition services, community health promotion, outreach, or awareness-raising activities is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of nutrition, maternal and child health, and mental health concepts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in field-based settings.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when needed.
- Fluency in Arabic; basic English proficiency is an advantage.
- Strong commitment to MedGlobal’s values, including community engagement, dignity, and equity in health care.
