Job Title: Pharmacist

Job location: Palestine, Gaza (On-Site)

Reports to: Doctor


JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacist will be responsible for managing the pharmaceutical needs of the project activities. This includes dispensing medications, providing pharmaceutical care, educating patients and healthcare providers on proper medication use, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines. 
The Pharmacist will play a vital role in supporting the overall health needs of the community in target locations.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Dispense medications accurately as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring the right dosage and instructions.
  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients, including counseling on proper medication use, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on safe medication practices, including storage, handling, and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of medications through regular monitoring and patient follow-up.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of medications dispensed, including patient profiles and prescription logs.
  • Oversee the inventory of pharmaceutical supplies, including ordering, receiving, storage, and conducting regular stock counts.
  • Monitor medication expiry dates and ensure proper rotation of stock to minimize waste.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and integrated patient care.
  • Participate in the organization and execution of health education sessions related to medication use and rational drug use.
  • Report any pharmaceutical concerns, medication errors, or supply issues to the focal point promptly.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols and safety standards in the pharmacy.
  • Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and pharmacy audits as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Valid certification and license to practice as a pharmacist in Gaza.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in pharmacy practice, preferably in primary health care, community health settings, or humanitarian response.
  • Experience working in conflict or post-conflict settings is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their indications, dosages, and potential side effects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to counsel patients effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in inventory management and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work in a challenging, high-stress, and resource-limited environment.
