Job Title: Midwife

Job location: Palestine, Gaza (On-Site)

Reports to: Doctor


JOB SUMMARY
The Midwife will be responsible for providing integrated maternal, newborn, and child health services as part of the project's activities. This includes delivering comprehensive care to mothers and children, conducting health assessments, supporting safe deliveries, and promoting the overall health and well-being of the community. 
The Midwife will work closely with the project team to ensure effective implementation of health services in target locations.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide comprehensive antenatal care (ANC) to pregnant women, including health assessments, risk monitoring, and health education.
  • Support safe childbirth practices and provide immediate essential care for newborns.
  • Deliver postnatal care services for mothers and neonates, including early detection of complications and follow-up visits.
  • Conduct health assessments for infants and children under five , including growth monitoring and identification of health risks.
  • Provide gynecological consultations and basic reproductive health services for women as needed.
  • Educate mothers and caregivers on essential health practices, including breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, childcare, family planning, and hygiene.
  • Counsel caregivers on child stimulation, positive parenting, and maternal mental health support.
  • Administer necessary medical treatments and interventions within the scope of midwifery practice.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential medical records for all patient encounters.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, community volunteers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Identify and refer complex obstetric, neonatal, or pediatric cases to appropriate specialized facilities when necessary.
  • Report key health trends, concerns, and service delivery data to the focal point or project officer.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols and safety standards.
  • Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and case discussions as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Midwifery.
  • Valid midwifery license in Gaza.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maternal and child health care.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a challenging and potentially high-stress environment.
  • Proficiency in Arabic; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Commitment to MedGlobal’s mission and values.
  • Knowledge of local health systems and community resources.
  • Experience working in conflict or post-conflict settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under the supervision of project staff.
