JOB SUMMARY
The Psychosocial Support Worker (PSSW) provides emotional, social, and practical support to individuals and communities affected by stress, trauma, crisis, or ongoing psychosocial challenges. The role focuses on enhancing wellbeing, resilience, and coping mechanisms through structured support activities, case management, and referrals.
The primary work location of the project is in the Middle Area / Al-Nuseirat. The need may require mobile teams in various areas of the South, depending on the project's requirements.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide individual and group psychosocial support sessions to beneficiaries.
  • Conduct basic assessments to identify psychosocial needs and risks.
  • Develop and implement support plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Facilitate recreational, educational, and community-based activities that promote mental well-being.
  • Identify and refer cases requiring specialized mental health or protection services.
  • Offer Psychological First Aid (PFA) in emergency or crisis situations.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure confidentiality of information.
  • Monitor and follow up on beneficiaries’ progress.
  • Support community outreach and awareness activities on mental health and well-being.
  • Coordinate with other service providers and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, protection, and ethical guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in psychosocial support, community work, or humanitarian settings is an asset (one year at least).
  • Advanced training in Psychological First Aid (PFA) or similar approaches is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable populations in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Basic case management and documentation skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and empathy.
